Wrangle the system to make file upload work for Anne (database uploads go through Rubin). In progress
Move wordpress files to subdirectory (I did this for the vanilla installation last night, but will take a few hours to do for our full site, so did not do this tonight).
Josh Harless provide quote for mirroring files and database with Carbonite. NEW TASK
Make decision on Carbonite with Josh Harless. NEW TASK
Verify procedure for managing email accounts (i.e., we will request changes through Rubin).
If you want to see the plain vanilla Wordpress installation again, just let me know. It is available, but disabled for now in deference to the VTDigger stuff now running on the host.
Realize that running sites in parallel is a hassle
Experience sense of urgency wgile remaining calm.
Schedule cutover of live site to new host. Cutover will take a few hours work, then waiting for registration change to propagate on internet could take up to 24 more hours after that.
Make sure Rubin is standing by for database transfer.
Speak or forever hold your peace.
FREEZE VTDIGGER FOR LIVE CUTOVER
GO GO GO
Update new host with new material from Godaddy site, created since the database was transferred earlier this week.
Wait for registration change to propagate (2-24 hours)
UNFREEZE VTDIGGER, resume normal operations.
Make sure Anne did not die during site freeze.
It should at that point seem as if nothing happened. Everything will function as it does now at Godaddy, except it will be happening at rbTechnologies.
Realize that moving to a new host, if it goes well, yields nothing, which is weird, but the actual goal. We want it all to seem like nothing happened.
Rename the database and files on Godaddy (makes sure they are not being accessed from new host without our realizing)
Carefully check through site again, to make sure nothing has been lost in transition.
Hope that internal system errors and hacking never recur.
Become happy, as we realize our transition was successful.
Consider a trip to Northfield to look at our host machines. Cool.
Continue being happy.
Add Campaign and other new blogs/sections to VTDigger.org
Upgrade to WordPress 3.01 (this will be a key test of the installation on the new host. If it goes smoothly, I will have earned my $500/hour)
Sell ads
Count money
Hope Dubie is exposed as the lying slimeHog he is. (not the opinion of VTDigger, just me)
Delete our old stuff from Godaddy.
Be in a new kind of awe, witnessing the deletion of all our stuff at Godaddy without anything happening. It is weird.
Please do not hesitate to let me know of questions, comments, concerns, etc.

Slow Is Fast Plugging Into Bedrock Even though immediate objectives are in sight, still necessary to delay speed for infrastructure development. In this case, infrastructure is spelled V-T-D-i-g-g-e-r. By Dan Allen
What is AJAX Programming? AJAX is a special program for updating parts of a webpage. The benefit is that tiny parts of a web page can display changes without re-displaying the parts of the page that have not changed. Re-display forces the internet to carry mountains of data it already has delivered. AJAX lets the internet say: "Update this one part of the webpage, and leave everything else still."

Ferguson and the Montpelier 650 Stephen Ferguson pays the freight, but is not allowed to drive. (Indy News Service) Stephen Ferguson grew up near the speedway. Even though he practically owns the team, team captain, Jimmy Glass, will not let him strap-on the car for a ride. By Tim Twinam, Montpelier Star
Data Bridging Bridges only go in difficult spots, whether the bridge is for G1 Endy racing or data streams. In this Montpelier Telecommunications Super Speedway photo, data bridging is set in place during a driver rest period (August 2008). In the Boston area, data bridge work like this takes place under lights at night, to avoid disrupting traffic. Montpelier Speedway road crews have the relative luxury of working in the sunlight, kept cool by Green Mountain breezes.
Moving data from one kind of software or database to another is difficult. Paste this web page, or even just a part of it, into Word, email, Excel, or almost any other program, and most likely what you get will be wild distortions of what you are looking at now. By Dan Allen
